I hate ironing. With a passion. But I have a good reason to.

Last semester, I was in my university’s musical production of Chess. I was in the ensemble and the understudy for Florence, one of the female leads. In addition to being part of the cast, I had to do a crew assignment. We could choose from set construction, hanging lights, costume construction, etc. etc. The list went on and on. I though I picked the easiest job- laundry. I mean, how difficult can it be? You wash clothes and then hang them back on the hanger before the next show. No big deal right?

WRONG!

You see, while most of the female costumes could not be washed, the men’s could. There were I believe 10-11 men in the show, and each of them had at least 2-3 long sleeved, button down dress shirts. Myself and another cast member had to wash the shirts every dress rehearsal and show- 10 times total! And we had to separate the shirts by color- red, yellow, and blue. So three loads a night for ten nights makes for a lot of laundry. But it does not end there. We also had to hang dry and iron the shirts AND they had to be in the dressing rooms by 5pm. We had less than 24 hours to wash, dry, and iron the shirts.

Now can you see why I hate ironing? ;)

However, I decided to put my feelings aside and do a little craft project today. I made my half- marathon t-shirt! :)

I bought a tech tee at Target and iron-on letters from Jo-Ann’s and went to work! :)

I think it turned out pretty well! :D

It is not perfect- some of the letters are a little wonky, I melted the fabric a little (oops!) and I accidently ironed on the “s” upside down, but I like it. ;) My name is on the front! :)

Dinner:

Tonight I was in bit of a spicy mood! ;)

I combined 1 T picante sauce with 1 T honey and made a marinade for my tofu. I grilled it on the Foreman for a few minutes and drizzled it with the extra sauce.

My goodness was it spicy! Good, but spicy! Less picante sauce next time!

I also utilized my leftover beans from last night. I cooked quinoa in equal parts water and vegetable broth:

Once it came to a boil, I added a chopped carrot and the leftover beans (~ 1/2 c.)

Let it simmer until all the liquid was soaked up and served it over some slightly cooked spinach. I also drizzled a little EVOO on top:

With steamed broccoli on the side:

After dinner I tried my hand at a new recipe. I wanted to make a Peanut Butter and Banana Muffin. They looked and smelled good coming out of the oven!

But were dry, crumbly, and not good at all. They sort of tasted like week old cornbread. :? Hmm…. this recipe will need some tweaking.

365 Days of Beauty Challenge:

Day 2:

Dressing room at Target- Jacksonville, FL

While traditional 16-week classes do not start until Wednesday, I have a 3 hour evening Consumer Behavior (for my Marketing minor) class that starts tomorrow night. :( I’m not quite ready to go back to school. I like having a schedule, but I am honestly over the whole undergraduate college thing. I feel like I have better things ahead of me after graduation! :)

Finally, I want to thank you for your OVERWHELMING support for me and my upcoming race. It truly touches me how people that I have never met in real life can be so supportive of me and my goals. You are all amazing! :)

Have a wonderful evening! :)
