Back to Reality and Looking to the Future

Whew! What a weekend! Back to normal life.
I really enjoyed being in my “Disney Bubble” and found it super difficult to leave this morning. Everything that I worked for since October is done. All the training is done. The race is done. I honestly woke up this morning with the “post-race blues.” As we left the resort, we passed some of the marathon runners, and a lump in my throat formed. I wanted to cry. I guess the reality of everything I had achieved finally set in.
So, what’s next? You’ll have to wait until the end of this post to see. I have BIG plans!
Before heading back to Gainesville, we stopped at a supermarket to grab a few breakfast items. I was honestly tired of going out to eat and wanted yogurt! However, the store did not have Chobani, so I had to settle for another brand.
In the mix:
- 1 container plain Greek yogurt
- 1 small peach
- Handful of Kashi Heart to Heart cereal
- Handful of almonds
I spent the duration of the car drive to Gainesville catching up on some schoolwork. Once I made it back to Gainesville, I did some laundry and made lunch while I waited for my clothes to dry.
- Mixed greens
- Water chestnuts
It may sound like a weird combination, but it actually was pretty tasty.
While at home, I talked to my parents about school for a little. Remember how I said I was taking 26 credits this semester? I realized that there is no way that I am going to make it through without having a few panic attacks over the next few months. So I decided it was in my best interest to drop a class. I decided to drop the marketing class because, while only an 8-week class, it had a lot of reading and projects during the time. I’m still taking 23 credits, but I can breathe a little easier!
At around 4pm I had to head back up to Jacksonville for a sorority meeting at 7. I said my goodbyes and headed back to my apartment. I had a good meeting (despite a little mix-up with my dues payment), and came back to the apartment to eat. I have no idea what my problem is but my appetite is all weird right now. :/
I had a roasted vegetable salad with a side of black beans. It does not look like much, but considering I was snacking all day, I was full!
Okay, food aside… I know you want to know my big plans for the next few months! ;)
I have signed up for two racing events coming up pretty soon!
On February 26th and 27th, I will be in Tampa running in the 2011 Gasparilla Distance Classic! I have decided to participate in the Beck’s Light Challenge which consists of running a 15K, 5K, and a Half- Marathon, all on the same weekend! The 15K and 5K are on Saturday with the half on Sunday morning. I am super excited for this challenge, and my training program will be interesting. It will be difficult running 12.4 miles on one day and 13.1 only 24 hours later, but I am confident I will be able to do it!
My training plan is to be determined. I need to look over and analyze my Disney plan to see what worked and what did not. (Look for a post in the next few days!) I am hoping to finalize my training plan by tomorrow evening. I have seven weeks till the race and I really want to work on getting my half- marathon time down. I would like to amp up the amount of speed work and tempo runs, all while preventing injuries!
Half- marathon number three will be the IronGirl Half- Marathon in Clearwater, FL on April 10th. I am really excited for this event, one because it is only four days before my 21st birthday (happy early birthday to me! ), two because I’ve heard that the course is super fast, and three, I know that other bloggers will be running this (I know another Katy is running!). I know that this training is going to be a little weird because more than likely I will be taking a full week off from running right in the middle of training because of my spring break trip to Costa Rica. I am still trying to figure out how it will work and if it will hinder me in anyway, but I am excited for this race!
Oh, and did I mention it is an all female race? Girl power!
I’m sure I will have a few 5K’s and 10K’s thrown around in the mix during my training, but I am super excited for the next few months. It’s a little crazy jumping from one training into another, but it keeps me motivated and striving for new goals.
This week I am reducing my mileage a little bit for good measure. I was a little sore today in my quads, but I have no IT band pain which was a miracle. Tomorrow I will take an easy run to stretch out the legs after a (well-deserved) rest day today.
Even though Disney is done and my first half- marathon is behind me, I hope that you will continue to follow my journey as I achieve new goals and PR’s. I really appreciate all of the comments and encouragement you all give me everyday! I am a blessed girl!
