“Your birthday is a special time to celebrate the gift of ‘you’ to the world.”- Unknown
Thank you all so so so much for your birthday wishes! I am glad that you enjoyed the flashback!
I had a lot of fun putting it together!
When it is a day for celebration, I like to go all out, whether if it is with colors like green for St. Patrick’s Day, or number’s like for birthday’s.
Yesterday ended up being a pretty good day, despite having a few bumps in the road. I woke up not feeling too great… my stomach had been bothering me the night before and it didn’t feel much better in the morning. However, despite the discomfort, I got up early to tackle my 2+1 run (or 3 miles if you will) for the day. I feel like Mother Nature gave me a gift because it was a glorious 51 degrees when I went out just before 8am!
The two miles went well, but the one mile (or third mile) was a difficult. I think the not feeling well caught up with me and I honestly thought I was going to get sick two times… ick! Oh well, you can’t win them all!
Blurry…but cute!
Oh…and I have no explaniation for the mis-matched compression sleeves other than the fact that I could only find one of each and had to make it work!
I refueled from my run with a quick breakfast…
And headed to class where I made a fool of myself when busted out laughing when I read this E-mail…
Oh the 19-year old me was so clever!
I completely forgot I send this through FutureMe! What a wonderful surprise!
I also browsed Facebook, which obviously knew that it was my 21st birthday…

“Like” Vodka? Actually…no…. not that I would have past experiences with it or anything.
But I do like running…even if it is a “Guns n Hoses” 5K (which is not what I read the first time I glanced at it
)
Once classes were done, I had a choir concert to perform in, which proved to be a challenge since the zipper on my choir dress broke! It only zipped half way up, so my friend Elyn came to the rescue and improvised with a sweater, belt, bobby pin, and an earring (don’t ask how it worked, but it did).
So I may not have looked like all the other girls in my choir, but I was in black and that’s what counts….besides, it’s my birthday!
After the choir concert, I (finally!) was able to celebrate my birthday a little. A few of my friends got together for a little gathering for some fro-yo at Mochi.
Since my stomach was still a little off at this point, I only got a little bit of fro-yo.
I got original, raspberry vanilla, and strawberry kiwi yogurt with an assortment of fruit.
Friends…

Fro-yo is good, but what I REALLY wanted was that glass of wine!
So a handful of my friends headed over to The Grape, a Wine Bar, to fill my void!
I wish I had taken pictures of the interior because it was adorable! I will definitely be back here because they had SO much to choose from!
I had no idea what to get, so I had the bar tender make a suggestion for me. I told him that I didn’t want anything too sweet, but something with a lemon tone to it. He found the perfect wine for me… but not without checking my ID.
I ended up getting the Kung Fu Girl Riesling, a Riesling from Washington State. It was pretty good…not too sweet and not too dry. Just right!
Okay, I have no idea what I am talking about, but it was good!
I would love to become a wine connoisseur one day so I can actually know what the differences are in wine!
Oh, and I got that glass for free- compliments of the bar tender!
All in all, it ended up being a great birthday. It was low key, which is exactly what I wanted! Maybe tonight I’ll go a little crazy.
A special thanks to everyone who made it so special and again, for all of your comments and birthday wishes!
Have a wonderful Friday and weekend ahead!
What was your favorite birthday?

My name is Katy and I am a 23-year-old living, running, and cycling in and around the Washington, DC metro area. This blog chronicles my life, inner musings, and fitness adventures as I try to navigate this crazy thing called life!

Holy smokes, that is an enormous glass of wine!
Haha… yeah. He gave me a “little extra” for my birthday. This is why I only had one drink last night.;)
Happy [belated] birthday and I second, bartender boy loved you. You know, because generous pours of wine = love. Glad it was a good day! And you jsut made me officially depressed that my celebratory run for this year would be a doozie!
The grape is a fantastic little spot! I think they have dance lessons sometimes, too! A fun way to try new wines is the flight of wines at PF Changs..You try a small glass of 3 or 4 different wines. It’s a great way to learn what you like!
I’m glad you went out to celebrate! Happy birthday!
Looks so fun! Happy birthday again
ah, i’m so glad you had a great birthday!!! what fun!
my best bday was my 23rd. i got drunk as a skunk with my best friends and brothers…hahaha!
Haha!!!! Well I definitely did not get drunk on my 21st….. maybe my 22nd.
Happy Birthday!!!!!
You’re so beautiful!!
