With A Heavy Heart…
| June 13, 2012 | Posted by Katy under Inner Musings |
This evening during my run I received the phone call I had feared…my Uncle Gary had passed away after a long, hard fought fight against multiple health issues.

Losing a loved one is never easy but I am taking this one especially hard. I had recently seen him during my trip to Maryland/ DC two months ago and he was looking much better than he had in the past. He still had his winning smile and was still telling his spit-fire jokes.
Funeral arrangements are currently being made and I will be heading up to Maryland early next week to be with my family. I have decided to throw out my goals for the triathlon this weekend and instead have decided to do the race in memory of him.
Thank you all for your prayers and support during this time.
My name is Katy and I am a 23-year-old living, running, and cycling in and around the Washington, DC metro area. This blog chronicles my life, inner musings, and fitness adventures as I try to navigate this crazy thing called life!

I’m sorry for the loss of your Uncle:( I did my first race in memory of my grandma who had just died, and it was a special way to run the race. I hope your tri will be extra special doing it in memory of him…
I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose a loved one. I think it is wonderful that you will do your tri in his memory. Cherish every moment as you think of him. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.
Katy, I’m sorry.
I don’t doubt that this will be a race you will always remember, though. I’m sure he would be honored for you to race in his memory. Best wishes for you during this time and during the race. My thoughts are with you, girl.
So sorry to hear about your uncle. Your family will be in my prayers!
