New Blogging Schedule
| June 29, 2012 | Posted by Katy under Blogging Tips |
Around this time last year, I changed my blogging style. I stopped recapping my daily eats/ workouts and focused on writing posts on a single idea or concept. I have been thinking a lot lately about the direction I want to take my blog. I wrote a post at the beginning of the month asking for suggestions and I loved some of the ideas you all left in the comments.
Beginning next week, I am going to try out blogging on a mini-schedule. I have come up with four different features, spaced out throughout the week, that cover a different variety of topics. These features will go up on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The other three days (Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday) will vary week-to-week and may include a recap of my day or something exciting I have done during the week.
I took your suggestions and came up with the following features that I hope you will enjoy. I am still figuring out the kinks on some of them and it may take me a week or two to figure out exactly what direction I am going with them.
Sunday- Weekly Wrap-Up/ Training Week Recap: I will still continue to post my recap of my workouts from the prior week. Unless I have a race recap or urgent post I need to write, you can count on this post being up every Sunday evening.
Tuesday- Training Tip Tuesday: I am currently in the process of studying for the ACSM Certified Personal Trainer examination and hope to have my certification by mid-August. Not only will this allow me to share a new workout or training skill, but I am hoping that it also gives me the final motivation to really buckle down and study for the examination.

I will note that since I won’t have my personal trainer certification until August, I am not going to give out advice that I am not qualified to give. I know that a few other bloggers may do this, but I am not comfortable doing this. I do have my USATF Level 1 Track Coach certification and there are a few concepts I want to write about that I learned at the workshop I attended, so I will be sharing those in the next couple of weeks.
I am also looking for guest posts for this series so if you are a certified personal trainer, running coach, triathlon coach, etc and would like to write a post for me, shoot me an E-mail!

Thursday- New Eat For The Week: I may change the title of this series, but in an attempt to branch out and cook new dishes, I am challenging myself to post a new recipe every Thursday. If I do not have a new recipe to post, I will post something that I have made during the previous week, (such as a smoothie or a salad) or a review of a restaurant I have recently tried. One way or another I will have some sort of food related post every Thursday!
Friday- Sports Talk Friday: It is obvious that I love running and triathlons, but I am also very interested in other sports. Football, basketball, baseball…you name it, I am probably interested in it. With the Olympics coming up, my “sports fever” is at an all time high.
This feature is pretty open-ended. Some weeks I may talk about a sporting event or competition, other weeks I may talk more about my own training. I do have a post in the works (by suggestion of a reader) about a runner’s perspective of triathlons and another about basic gear I think is important for running/ triathlons. I am also thinking about featuring other runners or triathletes who may have a blog or may be new to the sport. If you have any suggestions for this feature, feel free to leave me a comment below!
The other days of the week will be left open for random ramblings or other topics I would like to discuss. If I do not have anything to discuss, then I will not post…it’s as simple as that!
My hope is that through this schedule, I will produce better and more streamlined material for all of you. I do not want to lose the personableness of my blog and I want you all to feel free to reach out to me! I will still write more personal posts when inspiration strikes, but I also want to get myself on a better posting schedule. Also, I hope that this schedule will also open the door for some guest posts over here!
Let me know your thoughts and suggestions about this new schedule and features. Do you have a suggestion for a post or want to write a guest post? If you write a guest post, I will return the favor!
