Weekly Wrap-Up: Aug 20-26, 2012

Hey everyone! Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are ready for another week.
I am finally here in Maryland and starting to get settled into my new life here. I am going to keep this brief because I am exhausted, but I will be sure to fill you all in with everything in a couple of days.

In the meantime, here is the run down of my fitness last week…
August 20-26, 2012:
Monday: Run 3.07 miles
My first run back in over two weeks and it went just as I expected. I didn’t lose very much fitness at all and my legs felt refreshed from the break. I kept the pace conservative and took two walk breaks. I was also really focusing on my form (hence the walk breaks) and maintaining a steady pace.
Unfortunately after the run, I am continuing to have the lower leg pain in both legs. It is not as bad, but a little discouraging that the time off did not help very much.
Tuesday: Swim 1600m+ Strength Training+ Core/ Stretching
A fairly decent day in the pool. I felt pretty comfortable and I feel like my stroke is getting better. After swimming I hit the weight room followed by core work and stretching.
Wednesday: Run 3.01 miles+ Walking for 14 hours around Disney

It is official- I am no longer an early morning runner. This run was much slower than Monday’s on a count of A) it was very dark (I started running just after 6am) and B) I was so stiff. I did this run around the resort area and the parking lot so it was nothing special, but it got done. After the run, I spent 14 hours in the parks, walking probably at least six miles.
Thursday: Spin Class+ Core/ Stretching
My last spin class at my gym and it was fantastic. I am really going to miss my 6:35 Thursday night spin class because it was really great. The instructor was incredible and I loved the music. I pushed myself as much as I could, but I was definitely a little tired from all the walking at Disney.
Friday: Swim 1500m+ Strength Training+ Core/ Stretching
My final workout at my gym. I wish I had a better day in the pool, but my arms were so fatigued for some reason. I was unable to go as far as I wanted to, and did a lot more drill work, but I still got the swim done. The strength training went better than expected, which was surprising since it was more focused on upper body.
Saturday: Run 3.03 miles (Travel Day)
My final run in Jacksonville. Like Wednesday, this was an early morning run, so I was very stiff. It was faster than Wednesday’s but not by much. I am not stressing out about it right now since I am not actively training for anything, but I would like to start increasing my pace a little over the next few weeks.
Sunday: REST (Travel Day)
- Running Mileage= 9.11
- Spin Mileage= 1 Spin Class
- Swim Distance= 3100m
- Walking Distance= Probably around 6 miles at least
- Total Distance= 17.04+ Spin Class
This week was definitely lower mileage and intensity, but it was still a decent week. August is definitely shaping up to be more of a recovery month, which I am perfectly fine with. I want to make sure that when I go into my next training cycle in a few months, that I am ready mentally as well as physically. This month has also been crazy with the move and now that I am in Maryland, it will take me a week or two to get adjusted.
Last Week’s Goals:
- Start running again- eek! (CHECK!)
- Have fun this week (CHECK!)
- Enjoy my last week in Florida (CHECK!)
- Drive safe! (CHECK and CHECK!)
Goals For Next Week:
- Find a new gym

- Increase my running mileage a little
Have a great week!

Girl! I am in awe of your goals next week after just moving! But I suppose it’s all a part of exploring your new home
And I am impressed by your week! You rocked it even though it was full of travel and preparing.
I have never really been a morning runner, but I have been the last two weeks. I have found that it takes about two miles of painfully slow running (like 11 min/miles!) for me to warm up and feel less stiff. It’s the strangest thing! I think my body is still half asleep haha
I know a lot of places in the DC area to swim/bike/run, depending on exactly where you are living. Email me if you want ideas.
I definitely will! Thanks!
