A “Fun” Birthday Cookie: A Pinterest Find

Everyone and their mother seems to be on Pinterest these days. It seems like whether I am on Facebook, Twitter, or reading one of my favorite blogs, Pinterest pops up.

I’ll admit, that while I have a Pinterest account, I am not very active on the site. Sometimes if I’m bored, I’ll “pin” a few random things, but most of the time I prefer to spend my time Facebook stalking (I suppose we all have our vices…) However, I do like to occasionally “pin” recipes. I am always looking for inspiration for new dishes and treats to bake as gifts for others.

This New Eat For The Week is not my own recipe, but it is one that I wanted to pass along because I think you all will love it!

A couple of weeks ago I came across a pin for Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookies from Sally’s Baking Addiction that immediately caught my attention. I have memories from high school when my Latin teacher would bring in Funfetti cupcakes as a treat at the end of every quarter. My teacher may have been super strict and scared us at times, but she did buy us students over when she would bring the cupcakes.

My aunt’s birthday was yesterday and I was looking for something to do for her. I am a little strapped for cash right now, but had most of the ingredients for these cookies on hand. I thought it would be a nice little treat for my aunt to not only enjoy for herself on her birthday, but to also share with her co-workers at her new job.

I followed the recipe as posted but made two modifications- I used mini chocolate chips instead of mixing white and milk chocolate and I did not chill the dough for an hour. I was scrambling to mix the cookies, bake them, get them in Tupperware, AND let the oven cool before she got home from work on Tuesday. (I really wanted to surprise her Wednesday morning with the cookies and didn’t want her to suspect anything on Tuesday.) I did not have any issues with the cookies spreading too much since I didn’t chill the dough, but I probably just got lucky.

The cookies were a hit and I think that I now have a new “go to” cookie for any fun occasion! My picture is not the best since I was in a hurry, but believe me, they were delicious. Sprinkles, chocolate chips, and sugar…what more do you need?

This isn’t my recipe and I absolutely want to give credit where credit is due so go now and check out the recipe (and others) on Sally’s blog! I have a feeling that I will be baking more treats of hers in the future!

What is your favorite treat to eat on your birthday? Cake? Cupcakes? Cookies? All of the above?
