Chicago Marathon

On February 1st, 2011, I made the commitment to run the Chicago Marathon on October 9, 2011. With one half-marathon under my belt (and an intended two more later in the spring), I felt I was up to the challenge. My goal for my two spring half-marathon’s were to run fast enough to gain admission into a seeded corral. However, my other two half-marathon plans were derailed when I put out of running commission for a month and a half.

While I may not have a seeded corral, I am still registered! ;)

Once I was cleared to run again, I decided to do something drastic. Since I function best with a planned training schedule, I decided to start training for the Chicago Marathon on March 21, 2011, a full 29 weeks before the race!

While the first month and a half will be more or less building up my mileage base again after my injury, I am ecstatic to be training for something again! I know will be faced with struggles, triumphs, new milestones, happiness, pain, and doubt, but I am ready to face this new goal with the best foot forward!

Check back on this page to follow my training week reflections, favorite runs and races, and other experiences that I will face throughout this training!
